{"id":1048,"date":"2022-07-07T14:13:24","date_gmt":"2022-07-07T14:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ancientegyptblog.com\/?p=1048"},"modified":"2023-01-29T11:20:34","modified_gmt":"2023-01-29T11:20:34","slug":"the-wilbour-plaque","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ancientegyptblog.com\/?p=1048","title":{"rendered":"The Wilbour Plaque"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This is one of my absolute favorite pieces and I was so excited to see it again in person at the Brooklyn Museum after so long! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After Hatshepsut \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfb9\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd02\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3c\ud80c\udfea, Akhenaten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 is my second favorite pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b because of just how different\/bizarre his rule was compared to everything\/everyone else. The plaque is interesting because it is complete as is it was never part of a larger scene and was most like used as a model for sculptors. While there aren\u2019t any inscriptions to confirm this, it is assumed that the people represented here are Akhenaten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 and Nefertiti \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd24\ud80c\udd24\ud80c\udd24\ud80c\udd24\ud80c\udd24\ud80c\uddcd\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed. Usually Akhenaten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 is always accompanied by an image of the sun \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udffa\/Aten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3 with sun rays shining on him.
