Here I am with a book \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udf51\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfdb review for “Scanning the Pharaohs<\/a>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I got this book on my last trip to the MET – when I saw it I knew that I needed to have it!!! I have always been obsessed with the Egyptian \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc00\ud80c\udc50 mummies \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea- even as a small child, pictures of the mummies didn\u2019t scare me, they fascinated me. One of the first books my Nonno ever gave me was called \u201cFaces of the Pharaohs,\u201d and it had so many pictures of the royal mummies in it. I was completely hooked after Nonno gave me that book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This book \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udf51\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfdb is unique because it combines two of my favorite things: Egyptian history and science. Though I am not a biologist\/in the medical field, I have quite the interest in mummies \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea and the science behind studying them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I love how this book \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udf51\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfdb was organized, and how each royal mummy \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc3e was given their time to shine. The descriptions of the CT scans were detailed and descriptive (though they may be too much for someone without a science background). The book contains many pictures \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfe6, which I thought were fascinating. There was a whole chapter on Hatshepsut\u2019s \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfb9\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd02\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3c\ud80c\udfea mummy, which of course was my favorite part of the book! The amount of detective work and teamwork that goes into studying the mummies \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea is incredible, and I have so much respect for those who want to study, preserve, and respect \ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udd91\ud80c\udd05 the mummies \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
