{"id":1591,"date":"2022-11-05T09:59:48","date_gmt":"2022-11-05T09:59:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ancientegyptblog.com\/?p=1591"},"modified":"2022-11-05T09:59:51","modified_gmt":"2022-11-05T09:59:51","slug":"predynastic-pottery-vessel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ancientegyptblog.com\/?p=1591","title":{"rendered":"Predynastic Pottery Vessel"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today\u00a0\ud80c\udfc7\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3, we are going to travel all the way back to predynastic Egypt (c. 3500-3300 B.C.E.)! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This type of vase\u00a0\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcb, known by scholars as \u201cpottery vessels\u201d are very characteristic of early Egyptian art. There are many different examples of these, and many have been found in Egypt\u00a0\ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude96. There is a very similar one to this in the British Museum, and many other examples at the MET! The significance of these vases\u00a0\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcb\ud80c\udfea\u00a0is still debated because Egyptologists don\u2019t exactly know why they were made or what they were used for! Above the boat \ud80c\udca7\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude9e, the hills \ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\ude8e\ud80c\udfea\/mountains \ud80c\ude0b\ud80c\udd73 are once again depicted. Below the boat \ud80c\udca7\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude9e, it looks like plants\u00a0\ud80c\uddbe\ud80c\uddb0\ud80c\uddb0\ud80c\uddb0\u00a0are being shown! To me, the plants\u00a0\ud80c\uddbe\ud80c\uddb0\ud80c\uddb0\ud80c\uddb0\u00a0look like ferns (that is my interpretation).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a kid \ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\uddcc\ud80c\udc15, I really liked this vase&nbsp;\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcb&nbsp;because the groups of animals reminded me of the \u201cCircle of Life\u201d from The Lion King!
