So why would a pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b want to be the \u201cBeloved of Maat \ud80c\udf3a\ud80c\udc67?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maat \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc67, the goddess \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udfcf of truth \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd84, justice \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd84\ud80c\udfdc, harmony and was an extremely important goddess \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udfcf in the Egyptian pantheon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maat \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc67 was not only a goddess \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udfcf but also a concept in ancient Egypt \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude96 &#8211; to live \ud80c\udef9 by Ma\u2019at \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc67 was to always act truthfully and with good intentions, as opposed to chaotically &#8211; which is how the ancient Egyptians viewed other societies at the time. The goddess Maat \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc67 was the personification of these concepts and of cosmic order.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Being a \u201cBeloved of Maat \ud80c\udf3a\ud80c\udc67\u201d was the pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b taking the place of Maat \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc67 in the creation myth. When Ra \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udffa\ud80c\udc5b emerged from the primeval mound, he set his daughter \ud80c\udd6d\ud80c\udfcf Maat \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc67 in the place of chaos and to keep cosmic order. One of the roles of the pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b was to do the same.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maat \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc67 is always portrayed as having a feather \ud80c\udd84\ud80c\udffa on her head, whether in reliefs or even in hieroglyphs \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udf03\ud80c\udfea! You can always tell that an image \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf is of Maat \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc67 by looking for the feather \ud80c\udd84\ud80c\udffa!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maat\u2019s \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc67 most important role was in the judgement of the dead \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff1.&nbsp; The god \ud80c\udeb9 Anubis \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc62 would weigh the heart \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udd23 of the deceased against Maat\u2019s \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc66 feather \ud80c\udd84 to see if they lived a true \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udf34\ud80c\udca3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd84 and just life \ud80c\udef9.
