This is why he loved the Ptolemaic and Roman Periods of Egypt \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude96 so much. Even though the Ptolemaic Period was technically Hellenistic Egypt \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude96, there was still a heavy Roman influence because Rome was still very powerful at the time!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When Cleopatra VII \ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udced\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udf6f\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udca7\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udd87 committed suicide in 31 B.C.E., that was seen as the end of the pharaohs \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b\ud80c\udfe6 and the beginning of Roman Egypt. This makes Cleopatra \ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udced\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udf6f\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udca7\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udd87 the last pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b of Egypt! These oil lamps \ud80c\uddbc\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udff2\ud80d\udc20\ud80c\udfe4\ud80c\uddf6 are made of clay \ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\ude07 and can be found throughout countries that were ruled by the Roman Empire! Many are found in present-day Egypt \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude96, Turkey, Syria, and many others! My Nonno absolutely adored these &#8211; he loved that you could still see where the oil \ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udd93\ud80d\udc16\ud80c\udfca\ud80c\udfe6 had burned on some of them (that\u2019s the black \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udd53 discoloration at the opening). Nonno always made sure to point these out in museums and now of course I always look for them. I love seeing the different designs on them! The oil lamp \ud80c\uddbc\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udff2\ud80d\udc20\ud80c\udfe4\ud80c\uddf6 all the way on the right depicts Isis \ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc65 nursing Horus \ud80c\udd43\ud80c\udc2d. As Isis \ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc65 grew in popularity, she was associated with cosmological order and was considered to be the embodiment of fate by the Romans.&nbsp; Isis \ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc65 was widely worshipped \ud80c\uddfc\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udc22 during the Roman times, and Isis \ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc65 feeding Horus \ud80c\udd43\ud80c\udc2d as a baby \ud80c\ude16\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udc15 has even appeared on the back of Roman coins.
