Usually the name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 of a pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b appears in a cartouche \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf77! While this doesn&#8217;t happen often, there are instances where the name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 of a god \ud80c\udeb9 will appear in the cartouche \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf77!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a fragment of a beautifully \ud80c\udd24 painted \ud80c\udde8\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udfe6 sarcophagus \ud80c\udf9f\ud80c\udef9\ud80c\ude16\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udead. The hieroglyphs \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udf03\ud80c\udfea are: \ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udc2d\ud80c\udf9f\ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udf9b which translates to \u201cOsiris, Lord of Eternity.\u201d Let\u2019s break down the symbols!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udc2d &#8211; Osiris<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udf9f &#8211; Lord<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udf9b &#8211; Eternity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I haven\u2019t seen that many pieces like this, so I just found this one so cool! Usually the name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 of a pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b is what appears in a cartouche \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf77, but in this case it\u2019s Osiris \ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udc2d and his title! The top of the cartouche \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf77 also has the Atef Crown \ud80c\udeda on it, which is the crown that is associated with Osiris \ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udc2d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ancient Egyptians talked about \u201ceternity \ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udf9b\u201d a lot and were actually the civilization to derive the concept of \u201ceternity \ud80c\udd96.\u201d There were two \ud80c\udffb very common ways they expressed the word for \u201ceternity\u201d in hieroglyphic symbols:\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udf9b &#8211; Eternity<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udd96 &#8211; Eternity\/Everlasting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are some other popular hieroglyphs \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udf03\ud80c\udfea that appear on this piece!! See if you can spot them!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udd11\ud80c\udca7\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude96 &#8211; Edfu<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\ude7c &#8211; Great God<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both of the phrases appear symmetrically on either side of the cartouche \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf77 which is something that is common on these types of pieces!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s take a look at some of the deities \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udeb9 that appear! If you look in the lower left, you can see part of the god \ud80c\udeb9 Osiris \ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udc2d with a large table of offerings \ud80c\udeb5\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfd4\ud80c\udfe6 in front of him. On the top left, below the winged \ud80c\udca7\ud80c\udf33\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd83 sun disk \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udffa is a falcon \ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfa1\ud80c\udd44 which is representative of the god \ud80c\udeb9 Horus \ud80c\udd43\ud80c\udc2d. On the top right, there is an ibis \ud80c\ude54\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udd64 which is representative of the god \ud80c\udeb9 Thoth \ud80c\udd5d\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc2d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On either side of the cartouche \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf77, the god \ud80c\udeb9 Hapi \ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\ude18 (god \ud80c\udeb9 of the Nile River \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude17\ud80c\ude18\ud80c\ude07\ud80c\udffa\/flooding of the Nile) is shown. There are two \ud80c\udffb of him because if you look closely, you can see both symbolically tying up papyrus \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\uddb0 and lotus \ud80c\uddb8 plants together. This was meant to represent the union of Upper \ud80c\uddd3 and Lower \ud80c\udda4 Egypt! You can easily recognize Hapi \ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\ude18 because of the papyrus flowers \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\uddb0 on his head!&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Osiris&#8217; \ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udc2d name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 in a cartouche \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf77?
