Sometimes it takes me a while to want to share my Nonno\u2019s pictures \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfe6 because I\u2019m selfish and want to keep them to myself, but I also want to share his pictures \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfe6 with everyone so we can all remember him together \ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude97. I guess it\u2019s all a balance. Plus, his birthday is this week, so I am very sad about that because I miss my Nonno so much.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So why did a deceased \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff1 person have a \u201cUshabti Army?\u201d People who could afford it were buried with over 400 \ud80c\udff2\ud80c\udff2\ud80c\udff2\ud80c\udff2 ushabtis\u00a0 \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea! Usually there were 365 \ud80c\udff2\ud80c\udff2\ud80c\udff2\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udffe worker ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea (one for each day of the year) and then overseer ushabtis! The overseers ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea were there to make sure all of the others were doing their work!\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea in this picture \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf are made of clay \ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\ude07\/terracotta. During the 3rd Intermediate Period, these materials replaced the popular stone \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udeaa or faience \ud80c\udee3\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udffc ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea. So many ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea have been found from this time period that many of them were sold or given to museums around the world \ud80c\uddfe\ud80c\uddfe. Did you know that there were so many that the Egyptian Museum in Cairo even sold authentic ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea to tourists at one point?!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fun Fact: the ancient Egyptians \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc00\ud80c\udc50\ud80c\udfea had originally calculated the year to be 365 \ud80c\udff2\ud80c\udff2\ud80c\udff2\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udf86\ud80c\udffe days, and then they revised it to 365.25 days &#8211; which is the actual length modern scientists calculated based on the Earth\u2019s \ud80c\uddfe\ud80c\uddfe revolution around the Sun \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udffa!
