A sphinx \ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udced\ud80c\udfe4 is a mythical creature and is the combination of a lion \ud80c\udf33\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udd1b (the body) and a human (the head \ud80c\udc76\ud80c\udffa).&nbsp; In ancient Egypt \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude96, lions \ud80c\udf33\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udd1b\ud80c\udfea have been associated with kingship \ud80c\uddd3\ud80c\uddcc since prehistoric times due to their strength \ud80c\udf00 and ferocity. The sphinx \ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udced was the perfect representation of the strength \ud80c\udf00 of the pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b due to its lion \ud80c\udf33\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udd1b body, while the face still preserved the image \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf of the king \ud80c\uddd3 himself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sphinxes \ud80c\udf9b\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udced\ud80c\udfe6 are incredibly powerful creatures because not only do they represent the physical strength \ud80c\udd07\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udfed of a lion \ud80c\udf33\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udd1b, but also the power of a pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amenhotep II \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeb5\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udeaa loved to portray himself as powerful (as all pharaohs \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b\ud80c\udfe5 did), but Amenhotep II \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeb5\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udeaa is actually most known for his athletic abilities! Many depictions show him as an accomplished archer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amenhotep II\u2019s birth name is actually the same as Amenhotep I, which is \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeb5\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udeaa.
