After Hatshepsut \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udc66\ud80c\udc93, Akhenaten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 is my second favorite pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This particular limestone \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf09 statue \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e of Akhenaten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 surprised me when I saw it in person for the first time! I thought it was going to be a lot smaller, so I was shocked to see just how big it was! The piece is also incredibly well preserved &#8211; the Uraeus \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd97 on Akhenaten\u2019s \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 forehead is still somewhat intact, and the design details on the skirt are clearly defined. Also, Akhenaten is holding both the crook \ud80c\udefe and flail \ud80c\udf05 in one hand \ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udffa instead of one in each hand \ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udffa!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Louvre has this statue \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e named \u201cStatue of an Amarna King.\u201d To me, this statue \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e looks like it is from the early part of Akhenaten\u2019s \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 reign \ud80c\udefe\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf because there are both traditional Egyptian elements and Amarna-era elements (elongated face and limbs, more body fat in the stomach and thighs) present in the statue \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e. If I were to guess, this was probably made before year 5 \ud80c\udffe of Akhenaten\u2019s \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 reign \ud80c\udefe\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf, when he still had the name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 Amenhotep IV \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeb5\ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udefe\ud80c\udf00. However, there are no hieroglyphs \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udf03\ud80c\udfea on the statue \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e to confirm this, I am basing this inference just on the artistic style alone!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This piece really is just stunning to see in person!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is my personal photograph and original text.
