{"id":2637,"date":"2023-07-10T21:16:08","date_gmt":"2023-07-10T21:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ancientegyptblog.com\/?p=2637"},"modified":"2023-07-10T21:16:12","modified_gmt":"2023-07-10T21:16:12","slug":"steatite-wedjat-amulet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ancientegyptblog.com\/?p=2637","title":{"rendered":"Steatite Wedjat Amulets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In relation to my post about the wedjat \ud80c\udc80 or the &#8220;Eye of Horus&#8221; from yesterday \ud80c\udef4\ud80c\udd91\ud80c\uddf3, I wanted to talk about these really small \ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udd93\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\udd69 but cool steatite \ud80c\udd6e\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude12\ud80c\ude8c wedjat \ud80c\udc80 amulets \ud80c\ude90\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd46\ud80c\udfea! I love how detailed the wedjat \ud80c\udc80 is!\u00a0It always amazes me how ancient Egyptian craftsman were able to make such small \ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udd93\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\udd69 objects so detailed and beautiful \ud80c\udd24\ud80c\udd91\ud80c\udc8b! It&#8217;s even more incredible that they have lasted in such great condition for thousands of years!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These steatite \ud80c\udd6e\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude12\ud80c\ude8c wedjat \ud80c\udc80 amulets \ud80c\ude90\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd46\ud80c\udfea are very similar to the steatite \ud80c\udd6e\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude12\ud80c\ude8c scarabs \ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udda3\ud80c\udfea from the Hatshepsut \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udc66\ud80c\udc93\/Thutmosis III \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\udda3 era of the 18th Dynasty! They are in the same display case as the steatite \ud80c\udd6e\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude12\ud80c\ude8c scarabs \ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udda3\ud80c\udfea at the Metropolitan Museum of Art! This is a simple but great inscription \ud80c\udf98\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udf96 to read! On the back of this amulet \ud80c\ude90\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd46, Hatshepsut\u2019s \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfb9\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd02\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3c\ud80c\udfea throne name, Maatkare \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udc66\ud80c\udc93 is written!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16 &#8211; Amun<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udf3b &#8211; Beloved<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udc66\ud80c\udc93 &#8211; Maatkare (Truth \ud80c\udc66 is the Soul \ud80c\udc93 of Re \ud80c\uddf3)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The full inscription \ud80c\udf98\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udf96 reads \u201cBeloved of Amun, Maatkare.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\">This is my personal photograph and original text.
