This was one of my favorite objects that I saw at the Petrie Museum because it has Hatshepsut\u2019s \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfb9\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd02\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3c\ud80c\udfea throne name on it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also think this piece is unpublished, so it was a total surprise for me to see that it even existed! Since her name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16appears on the blade \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udca7\ud80c\ude16\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udef4, it means that it was most certainly made during Hatshepsut\u2019s \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfb9\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd02\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3c\ud80c\udfea time as pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s take a closer look at the hieroglyphs \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udf03\ud80c\udfea!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udd24\ud80c\udeb9 &#8211; Great God<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udc66\ud80c\udc93) &#8211; Maatkare (Hatshepsut\u2019s Throne Name which translates to \u201cTruth \ud80c\udc66 is the Soul \ud80c\udc93 of Re \ud80c\uddf3.\u201d)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16 &#8211; Amun<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udfc3 &#8211; Foremost&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udca6\ud80c\udca6\ud80c\ude50- Holiest of Holies (the name given to Hatshepsut\u2019s temple at Deir el-Bahri. It can also be written as \ud80c\udca6\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udca6\ud80c\udfe5\ud80c\ude50).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud80c\udf3a\ud80c\uddcc &#8211; Beloved&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Put together, the inscription reads: \ud80c\udd24\ud80c\udeb9(\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udc66\ud80c\udc93)\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfc3\ud80c\udca6\ud80c\udca6\ud80c\ude50\ud80c\udf3a\ud80c\uddcc \u201cThe Great God Maatkare, Beloved of Amun, Foremost of the Holiest of Holies.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Interestingly, Hatshepsut \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfb9\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd02\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3c\ud80c\udfea is referred to as \u201cThe Great God \ud80c\udd24\ud80c\udeb9\u201d instead of the \u201cGreat Goddess \ud80c\udd24\ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udfcf\u201d as she usually is in inscriptions \ud80c\udfdf\ud80c\udfdb\ud80c\udfe5. Certain inscriptions \ud80c\udfdf\ud80c\udfdb\ud80c\udfe5 towards the later part of her reign \ud80c\udefe\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf did sometimes omit the feminine ending of the word, so this might mean the blade \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udca7\ud80c\ude16\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udef4 is from the late part of her rule \ud80c\udefe\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf. Or this could just be a spacing issue &#8211; the blade \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udca7\ud80c\ude16\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udef4 is small \ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udd93\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\udd69 so maybe not all of the hieroglyphs \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udf03\ud80c\udfea could fit!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is my personal photograph and original text.
