My favorites are the blue \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udfe5 faience \ud80c\udee3\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udffc ones that are typically dated to the Middle Kingdom time period!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I love about this picture \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf is it shows the diversity of the art that was created during the Middle Kingdom! The blue \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udfe5 faience \ud80c\udee3\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udffc hippopotamus \ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udcef statue \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e is a lot more detailed and refined, while the clay \ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\ude07 hippo \ud80c\udf09\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udcef statues \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea are a little rougher!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The hippo \ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udcef statues \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea in the forefront of the image \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf are made out of clay \ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\ude07 and were most likely used as a kind of offering during the \u201cFeast of the White Hippopotamus.\u201d During this festival, a hippopotamus \ud80c\udf09\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udcef was dragged on a sled before the pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b. The base that these two \ud80c\udffb hippo \ud80c\udf09\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udcef statues \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea have are representative of that sled!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The blue \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udfe5 faience \ud80c\udee3\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udffc hippopotamus \ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udcef statue \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e is always a treat to see and I love seeing them across various museums! There are lotus flowers \ud80c\uddb8\ud80c\uddb8\ud80c\uddb8 painted on the sides of the hippo \ud80c\udf09\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udcef to represent the different plants that grew along the Nile \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude17\ud80c\ude18\ud80c\ude07\ud80c\udffa! The legs on this statue \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e are actually restored!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FUN FACT: did you know that most blue \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd3f\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udfe5 faience \ud80c\udee3\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff8\ud80c\udffc hippopotamus \ud80c\udf09\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udcef statues \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea have broken feet because they were broken on purpose so the hippo \ud80c\udf09\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udcef would not be a threat to the deceased person it was buried with?&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is my personal photograph and original text.
