Akhetaten \ud80c\ude0c\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude50\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude96 was the capital of Egypt \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude96 during the reign \ud80c\udefe\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf of Akhenaten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5e\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16.  These limestone \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf09 blocks were unique because they were so small \ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udd93\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\udd69 a single worker could carry them and put it into place. This was meant to expedite construction and make building a lot faster. The Talatat are also unique because they were only used during the reign \ud80c\udefe\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf of Akhenaten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5e\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16, and were never used again.  Even though originally from Amarna \ud80c\ude0c\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude50\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude96, these Talatat were actually found at Hermopolis because after Akhenaten\u2019s \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5e\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 reign \ud80c\udefe\ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udfcf, his monuments \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\udfcd were destroyed and building materials were used by other pharaohs \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b\ud80c\udfe6!  These Talatat at the MET were once brightly painted in striking colors, as was most of the Egyptian monuments \ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\udfcd. A lot of the colors you see on these blocks are restored and not necessarily the original colors.  Tens of thousands of Talatat have been found across Egypt \ud80c\udd8e\ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude96.
