This is my second post on Cleopatra\u2019s Needle and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ancientegyptblog.com\/?p=3257\">here<\/a> is a link to the first!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This obelisk \ud80c\ude76 was commissioned to be built by Thutmosis III \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\udda3 during his 18th Dynasty reign to highlight his military victories. On the obelisk \ud80c\ude76, not only can you see Thutmosis III\u2019s \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udfe0\ud80c\udda3 throne name cartouche, but you can also see both the throne name and birth name of the 19th Dynasty pharaoh \ud80c\ude50\ud80c\ude7b Rameses II! Rameses II usurped this monument, as he did with the monuments of many past pharaohs! The name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 translates to \u201cLasting is the Manifestation of Ra.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddf3 &#8211; Ra<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udfe0 &#8211; Lasting<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udda3 &#8211; Manifestation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 \u201cRamessu Mery Amun \ud80c\udc69\ud80c\udc5b\ud80c\ude18\ud80c\udd1f\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\uddd3\u201d is Rameses II\u2019s birth name. The name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 translates to \u201cRa has fashioned him, beloved of Amun,\u201d but could also be translated as \u201cRa Bore Him, Beloved of Amun.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udc69 &#8211; Amun<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udc5b &#8211; Ra<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\ude18 &#8211; Beloved<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udd1f\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\uddd3 &#8211; Bore Him\/Fashioned Him\/Born Of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 \u201cUsermaatre setep en Ra \ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd0a\ud80c\udc67\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udf49\ud80c\ude16\u201d is Rameses II\u2019s throne name and translates to \u201cThe Justice of Ra is powerful, Chosen of Ra.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddf3 &#8211; Ra<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udd0a &#8211; Powerful<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udc67 &#8211; Justice (Maat)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddf3 &#8211; Ra<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udf49\ud80c\ude16 &#8211; Chosen<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Can you spot the three different cartouches in my picture \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf?
