Today \ud80c\udfc7\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3, at an uncommon variant of Anubis \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\uded4\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc2d! As you may know, Anubis \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udce3 is my favorite word to spot (no matter the variant) in inscriptions!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This particular \u2018spelling\u2019 of Anubis\u2019 name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 is a not-as- common variant of the common way to write his name which is \u201c\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udce3.\u201d However, even though some of the symbols are different, his name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 would still be pronounced the same! The proper way to say Anubis in Middle\/New\/Late Egyptian is \u201c\u0131\u0357npw\u201d (pronounced like \u201cInpu\u201d or \u201cAnpu\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Anubis \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\uded4\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc2d is my favorite Egyptian god \ud80c\udeb9, so I love spotting the different variants of his name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16! The \u201c\ud80c\uded4\u201d is associated with the sound of \u201cn,\u201d just like the \u201cripple of water \ud80c\ude16.\u201d This symbol can also act as a determinative for \u201cred crown.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The \u201cstool \ud80c\udeaa\u201d symbol is a uniliteral phonogram for the sound \u201cp.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The \u201cQuail Chick \ud80c\udd71\u201d is one of the hieroglyphs that appears the most in inscriptions! It is a uniliteral phonogram that is representative of the sound w\/u, and it is also an ideogram for the word \u201cchick \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udffa.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The \u201cseated god \ud80c\udc2d\u201d is a determinative symbol and isn\u2019t pronounced! It acts as \u201cpunctuation\u201d at the end of the name of a male god!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16 \u201cAnubis\u201d is actually the Greek version of his name, not the Middle Egyptian name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16, so that is why the hieroglyphs \ud80c\udeb9\ud80c\udf03\ud80c\udfea don\u2019t match up with how we are so used to saying Anubis\/Inpu\/Anpu\u2019s name \ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\ude16!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Here are some common variants of Anubis\u2019 name:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\uded4\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc2d (the one pictured)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udce3<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udce3&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udc62&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeaa<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Which variant do you prefer?
