This ushabti belonged to a woman named Isis and is on display at the MET.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This ushabti \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e is made out of limestone \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf09 and was made for a woman named Isis \ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd87\ud80c\udc50 who was ironically a singer for the Aten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3 !&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This ushabti \ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udea4 was made during the 18th Dynasty reign of Akhenaten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16. The 18th Dynasty is almost the \u201cgolden age\u201d of ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e because they undergo much development during this time period. It\u2019s very easy to date this ushabti because the Aten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3 was only worshipped during his reign! Also, the ushabti\u2019s \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e hands are crossed in a mummiform way and holding tools &#8211; another 18th Dynasty clue!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Here\u2019s the full inscription on the ushabti: \ud80c\uddd3\ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udd6e\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3 \ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd87\ud80c\udc50\ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udea4<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Let\u2019s break down the inscription by each individual word:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddd3\ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udfcf &#8211; Singer&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\ude16 &#8211; of<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udd6e &#8211; (indicates past tense)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3 &#8211; Aten&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd87\ud80c\udc50 &#8211; Isis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80d\udc19\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc9d\ud80c\udea4 &#8211; True of Voice\/justified<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">While limestone \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udf09 is not the most common material for ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e to be made out of, it\u2019s not unheard of to have ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e like this during the 18th Dynasty period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">It always fascinates me that even though Akhenaten \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\uddf3\ud80c\udd5c\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\ude16 completely changed the whole ancient Egyptian religion during his reign, certain aspects of the original religion, such as ushabtis \ud80c\udd71\ud80c\ude19\ud80c\udcc0\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfed\ud80c\udc3e, remained.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This is my personal photograph and original text.
