The Offering Formula is found on all different types of funerary objects \ud80c\ude0e\ud80c\udc8b\ud80c\udef4\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udead such as stelae \ud80c\udf97\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udd93\ud80c\ude78\ud80c\udfea, sarcophagi \ud80c\udf9f\ud80c\udef9\ud80c\ude16\ud80d\udc0d\ud80c\udead\ud80c\udfe6, statues \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udc3e\ud80c\udfea, and false doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The purpose of the Offering Formula was to allow the deceased \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff1 to partake in and accept offerings \ud80c\udeb5\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfd4\ud80c\udfe6. These offerings could be either the deceased \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff1 making an offering to a god \ud80c\udeb9 (usually Osiris \ud80c\udc79\ud80c\udea8\ud80c\udc2d or Anubis \ud80c\uddcb\ud80c\ude16\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udd71\ud80c\udce3) or the deceased \ud80c\udd53\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udff1 accepting offerings \ud80c\udeb5\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfd4\ud80c\udfe6 directly from family members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">What we are looking at today is the first part of the Offering Formula: \ud80c\uddd3\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udeb5\ud80c\udfd9. This translates to \u201cAn Offering the King Gives\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\uddd3 &#8211; King<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udeb5 &#8211; Offering (shortened version of \ud80c\udeb5\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udeaa\ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udfd4\ud80c\udfe6)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">\ud80c\udfd9 &#8211; Gives<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Let\u2019s break down each of the hieroglyphic symbols!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The \u201cSedge \ud80c\uddd3\u201d symbol functions as a biliteral phonogram and is associated with the sound \u201csw.\u201d Most commonly, the symbol is used as an ideogram for the word \u201cKing,\u201d which is associated with the sound \u201cnswt.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The \u201cflat loaf of bread \ud80c\udfcf\u201d is a uniliteral phonogram used to represent the sound \u201ct.\u201d It also functions as the ideogram for the word \u201cbread \ud80c\udfcf\ud80c\udffa\u201d and can be used to make words feminine when placed at the end of the word!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The \u201cbread loaf on a mat \ud80c\udeb5\u201d symbol is a triliteral phonogram for the sound \u201c\u1e25tp\u201d and is also an ideogram for \u201coffering slab\u201d which is also associated with the sound \u201c\u1e25tp.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The \u201cbread mold \ud80c\udfd9\u201d symbol is functions as a phonogram for \u201cd\u201d or \u201c\u1e0fj\u201d and also as \u201crdj\u201d in the word for \u201cgive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This is my personal photograph and original text.
