Letโs read some hieroglyphs ๐น๐๐ช!
Today ๐๐๐๐ณ we are going to look at one of the most common phrases you will encounter – The Offering Formula! The Offering Formula is found on all different types of funerary objects ๐๐๐ด๐๐๐ญ such as stelae ๐๐ ฑ๐๐ธ๐ช, sarcophagi ๐๐น๐๐๐ญ๐ฆ, statues ๐๐ ฑ๐๐พ๐ช, and false doors.
The purpose of the Offering Formula was to allow the deceased ๐ ๐๐ฑ to partake in and accept offerings ๐ต๐๐ช๐๐๐ฆ. These offerings could be either the deceased ๐ ๐๐ฑ making an offering to a god ๐น (usually Osiris ๐น๐จ๐ญ or Anubis ๐๐๐ช๐ ฑ๐ฃ) or the deceased ๐ ๐๐ฑ accepting offerings ๐ต๐๐ช๐๐๐ฆ directly from family members.ย

Here is the beginning phrase of the Offering Formula: ๐๐๐ต๐. This translates to โAn Offering the King Givesโฆโ
๐ – King
๐๐ต – Offering (shortened version of ๐ต๐๐ช๐๐๐ฆ)
๐ – Gives
