Here I am with a book π πππ review for “Scanning the Pharaohs.”

I got this book on my last trip to the MET – when I saw it I knew that I needed to have it!!! I have always been obsessed with the Egyptian ππππ mummies ππΉπ ±πΎπͺ- even as a small child, pictures of the mummies didnβt scare me, they fascinated me. One of the first books my Nonno ever gave me was called βFaces of the Pharaohs,β and it had so many pictures of the royal mummies in it. I was completely hooked after Nonno gave me that book.
This book π πππ is unique because it combines two of my favorite things: Egyptian history and science. Though I am not a biologist/in the medical field, I have quite the interest in mummies ππΉπ ±πΎπͺ and the science behind studying them.
I love how this book π πππ was organized, and how each royal mummy ππΉπ ±πΎ was given their time to shine. The descriptions of the CT scans were detailed and descriptive (though they may be too much for someone without a science background). The book contains many pictures ππ ±ππ¦, which I thought were fascinating. There was a whole chapter on Hatshepsutβs ππ ππΉππππΌπͺ mummy, which of course was my favorite part of the book! The amount of detective work and teamwork that goes into studying the mummies ππΉπ ±πΎπͺ is incredible, and I have so much respect for those who want to study, preserve, and respect πππ the mummies ππΉπ ±πΎπͺ.
